I'm Back!!

Well, summer is over & the camp ground is closed for the season so I now have time for my poor neglected blog. :) I just hope I remember how to post pictures etc.!

I've been participating in the Canadian Swarm on the Cricut Circle MB. It has been going on for the whole month of October with prize winners announced Nov 16 ... I think.

This Cake Smash layout is for one of the challenges - Sara's "Use It". You had to use your newest cartridge that hadn't been used before. I used Charmed which I received in October & hadn't even looked at prior to the challenge.

A very simple layout but I just love the pictures & am pleased with how it turned out. Austin sure knew what a "cake smash" was all about!! LOL!

Thanks for visiting! ... Barb :)

Almost a Month Since Last Post!! :(

I don't know where the time goes but just realized a month has almost gone by since I last added anything to this blog. I guess I should do more writing than just thinking about writing!

Today's post is a layout with pictures from Ryan & Christina's wedding. I got the idea for the layout & to make the pictures like old polaroid photos from my sister, Joyce, as she was doing the same pages from Simple Stories. The paper I used is all from My Mind's Eye Laundry Line. Each page has a bit of glitter on it. I've had it for a few years & it is about time I used it! I added some Prima flowers & Prima Say it in Crystals  bling. Also the large butterfly is from Prima & I'm not sure but I think the small butterflies are from Petaloo.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you like the pages! Have a good day. ... Barb :)

The Stump Cake

I have been (&still am!) sick ... again! It has been a rough winter in our household. The flu shots this year didn't protect against much. We both ended up with the same respiratory virus that we had after Christmas that lasted for several weeks. So far it has been 2 weeks & counting!

I did this layout before I got sick & had planned on posting it then but never got the chance!

More pictures from our son's wedding from 2010. The layout didn't turn out as I had planned but I'm happy with it. The papers are all from My Mind's Eye Lost & Found collection. They already had some silver glitter on them & are very pretty. Flowers are all Prima - I used my Copic Markers to change the color of some. I added Glossy Accents to the title words. The silver glittered letters on the tag are from Making Memories.

Cicut Cartridge used:
Hannah Montana - Daddy's Girl Shadow Font @ 1"

Thanks for the visit! ... Barb

Scrappers' Cove March Challenge Page

Lots of green in the kit from Scrappers' Cove this month - probably for St. Patrick's Day but I flipped the pages & went with a dog theme to add some pictures of Bart & Lucy.

The kit included paper from Bo-Bunny, Imaginisce & Bazzill card stock. Also had ribbon, flowers, brads & glitter pen.

I created the large tag & added stitching, some dog themed brads, inked & added stickles to the flowers. Of course Tim Holtz distress inks were used as well. Pretty simple page & no Cricut cuts!! I like how it turned out & hope you do as well. :)

Thanks for visiting my blog. ... Barb

Bath Time

I love these photos of 7 month old Austin having fun in the bath tub. They are sweet! I did cover his little tush for the internet post though. :)

All the patterned paper for this layout is from an old Cosmo Cricket pack - Get Happy - that I've been waiting to use for ages.  It gives just the right fun & bubbly feel for the tub time pictures. I like the nice bold colors as well.

Cricut Cartridges used:

Billionaire - Font for "Splish" & "Splash". Each word was welded together & then sized to be 6" wide. Once they were attached to the page I used Glossy Accents to make them shine so they would stand out better.

New Arrival - "Bath Time" cut at 3.5" high. Used Glossy Accents on this as well after it was attached to the page.

Heritage - The bathtubs were cut at 4" high. I cut them from white Bazzill Bling cardstock but decided I didn't like the stark white after all. I used silver Smooch to color the taps & feet and then used Pebbles Inc blue chalk on the rest of the tub. I sprayed the chalk with hairspray to set it so it wouldn't rub off. I haven't used chalks in ages so it was a nice change. :)

An EK border punch "Bubbles" was used on the blue papers. Then I used waterfall Stickles to lightly accent the bubbles along the borders. I have no idea where the large bling "bubbles" are from. Again, something from my stash that has been around for ages. The little rubber duck is a Recollections embellishment. I also used Tim Holtz distress inks ( Festive Berry, Faded Jeans & Mustard Seed) on the edges of the papers.

Thanks once again for stopping by. I appreciate the visit. :)

Have a wonderful day! ... Barb

Feb Page Kit from Scrappers' Cove, Invermere

This month the kit included 4 sheets of patterned cardstock, some ribbon & a package of berry spray. Since we have to make sure we use some of everything provided, I found this month challenging because of the berry spray. Managed to get it on the page but didn't use much. :) Not sure what all the papers were but the black ones are BasicGrey, Little Black Dress.

The main thing I added to the kit was the stitching. I used my new We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy Circle to create the circle of hearts to stitch. This is the first time I've used the tool since picking it up at the store. I must say it was really easy to use. I don't have the large mat they recommend for the larger circles so I had to tape 2 of my mats together which worked fine. I set the circle size at 8 1/2". I used red & deep pink craft floss on the hearts. Did some inking with Tim Holtz Distress inks - Fired Brick & Festive Berry. The "Love" bling is from Making Memories & I've had it for ages so nice to be able to finally use it.

Cricut Cartridges used:

Martha Stewart Elegant Cake Art - Champagne Toast shadow font @ 1 1/2" for the monogram initials. Also the hearts from the same cartridge at 1", 1 1/2" & 3". I cut the Letters & the large heart 4 times & glued them together to give a chipboard feel. None of my Cricuts like to cut chipboard so I've given up trying to make them!

The photo is from Ryan & Christina's wedding in 2010. Yes, I'm still trying to finish their wedding album! Slow & steady wins the race. :)

Thanks for visiting my blog today! Have a great weekend! It is a holiday weekend here in BC. :) First time for a new Family Day weekend introduced this year. Very nice!

This is What Cute looks Like

This layout is thanks to inspiration from Yvonne at Cricut FANatics  www.cricutfanatics.blogspot.ca. Her page is adorable & I love the title. Like Yvonne, I also did the layout for our grandson. :)

One thing I don't seem to have in my paper stash is plaid paper. How can that be? LOL! The pattern papers for this page are an older line from BasicGrey, Marrakech.

I used a We R Memory Keepers Lucky 8 punch, Classic Wreath, to create the large mat. I cut my paper to 11" square before punching. I copied the design created by hand to make the slightly larger red mat behind.

Cricut Cartridges used:

Mickey Font: Title was all cut at 1" except "CUTE" was cut at 1 1/4" & shadowed.

Animal Kingdom: Giraffe cut at 6"

I used Black Diamond Stickles on the title words & just added some blue crystal bling to "cute" before using foam tape to attach it to the page. Also used Distress Stickles (Brushed Corduroy & Antique Linen) on the giraffe. Of course I used googly eyes on him too just because I love googly eyes! :) Used foam tape to attach the giraffe as well.

Scraplifted ... but it counts! :)

I feel a wee bit guilty as I copied this from a kit from Monday Night Class. Normally I wouldn't post anything that is not my original design but I just love how this looks! I loved it as soon as I saw it. As they say ... imitation is the purest form of flattery! You can purchase the kit from them at: http://www.mondaynightclass.ca/index.html   I have purchased kits from them in the past & they are really nice. Easy to follow instructions as well. Great for crops!

It was very hard to do the monkey as I don't have this particular guy on any of my Cricut cartridges. I won't go into detail as to how I created him or what Cricut cuts I did use because you can purchase the kit. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask though. The patterned papers are all from BasicGrey Clippings line.

Hope you like the layout as much as I do! :) Sorry about the flash!!

Productive Scrap Weekend :)

I was on Skype with my sisters a lot this weekend & managed to get 2 single page layouts finished as well as a double layout! Makes me a very happy scrapper.

I actually did a double layout that is NOT of Austin! I think he has been my scrap subject since he was born in June! I love the TV show The Big Bang Theory & that is what inspired this layout.

Every since I decided to do a page based on the Soft Kitty song, I have not been able to get the song out of my head so hopefully now it will be purged from there! These are some of Miss Cleo's baby pictures & a couple more recent photos. She will be 15 in March & really rules the roost here. She sure puts the puppies in their place when she feels like it. The "puppies" are Bart & Lucy, born 07/07/07 so not really puppies but always puppies to us. :) They are Cairn & Yorkie cross brother & sister.

Cricut Cartridge used is: Folk Art Festival for the blackout font at 1". I then used Glossy Accents on all the letters. For "Cleo" I used the regular font with the shadow. The papers are all BasicGrey Max & Whiskeys line. I put the words on little hand cut clouds & used pop dots to attach to the page to make them stand out better against the patterned paper. I also used Tim Holtz Aged Mahogany distress ink on the edges.

The single pages are of Austin ... of course. :)

I love these papers from KaiserCraft Tiny Woods Collection! The images match the decor in Austin's bedroom perfectly. I also love the photo! I had just put him down in his crib after rocking & singing him to sleep. The picture was taken with my phone but still turned out pretty good.

I cut out the tree trunk & used pop dots to layer it onto the same image on the paper. I did some stitching & added google eyes to all the critters because I love google eyes! :) The words are for Away in a Manger as that is what I was singing to him.

The last page is of our son, Ryan, on the day he came home from the hospital & then a photo of Austin in the same outfit. I'm soooo sentimental about things like that! :)

This started out as an extra page for a BasicGrey monthly class that I signed up for but I changed it up quite a bit so other than the papers & the buttons there isn't much that resembles the class page. The papers & buttons are from the BasicGrey Paper Cottage line.

Thanks for visiting & hope you like the layouts. Have a great day ... Barb

First Post of 2013!! Jan page kit

It has been a long time since I've been near my computer let alone thought about my blog! :( Despite getting our flu shots, Jeff & I were hit with some sort of respiratory bug right after Christmas that really knocked the wind out of our sails. Still recovering 2 weeks later but feel 100% better.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas & holiday season! We had a wonderful Christmas visiting Ryan, Christina & Austin in Calgary. We were there for over a week & really got to spend lots of quality time with baby Austin. Best Christmas since Ryan was little! :)

I finally made it to my scrap room yesterday & did the monthly page kit from Scrappers' Cove in Invermere. You have to use what is provided in the kit but can also include other things. Love the white mesh in the kit for creating the snow! I ran it through my Xyron & then stuck it to the white cardstock. Very easy to work with! My kit had the QuicKutz peppermint die but I just had to cut some Cricut penguins to compliment Austin's outfit. Took the picture after his visit with Santa. Saw the decorations they had for the North Pole & just had to get pictures of our little penguin sitting there. :)

The Cricut cartridges used for this page are:

Christmas Cheer for those adorable penguins. Cut @ 3 1/2" 4" & 4 1/2". I added google eyes & stickles for their hats.

Winter Frolic for the North Pole sign with the words & it also included the arrow. Cut at 24" as I hid a large part of the cut. I only wanted the sign & arrow so had to make those small things really large for my page.

Mickey Font for the rest of the title. Cut with shadow at 1 1/2".

I used a Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder for the words & letters. Used a snowflake folder for the sign & arrow. Also used some Tim Holtz distress inks - Broken China & Stormy Sky. The 2 penguins together are popped up as well as the arrow & some of the peppermint candies.

This was a fun page to do! :)

Thanks for visiting! Have a wonderful 2013!!
