Scraplifted ... but it counts! :)

I feel a wee bit guilty as I copied this from a kit from Monday Night Class. Normally I wouldn't post anything that is not my original design but I just love how this looks! I loved it as soon as I saw it. As they say ... imitation is the purest form of flattery! You can purchase the kit from them at: http://www.mondaynightclass.ca/index.html   I have purchased kits from them in the past & they are really nice. Easy to follow instructions as well. Great for crops!

It was very hard to do the monkey as I don't have this particular guy on any of my Cricut cartridges. I won't go into detail as to how I created him or what Cricut cuts I did use because you can purchase the kit. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask though. The patterned papers are all from BasicGrey Clippings line.

Hope you like the layout as much as I do! :) Sorry about the flash!!

Productive Scrap Weekend :)

I was on Skype with my sisters a lot this weekend & managed to get 2 single page layouts finished as well as a double layout! Makes me a very happy scrapper.

I actually did a double layout that is NOT of Austin! I think he has been my scrap subject since he was born in June! I love the TV show The Big Bang Theory & that is what inspired this layout.

Every since I decided to do a page based on the Soft Kitty song, I have not been able to get the song out of my head so hopefully now it will be purged from there! These are some of Miss Cleo's baby pictures & a couple more recent photos. She will be 15 in March & really rules the roost here. She sure puts the puppies in their place when she feels like it. The "puppies" are Bart & Lucy, born 07/07/07 so not really puppies but always puppies to us. :) They are Cairn & Yorkie cross brother & sister.

Cricut Cartridge used is: Folk Art Festival for the blackout font at 1". I then used Glossy Accents on all the letters. For "Cleo" I used the regular font with the shadow. The papers are all BasicGrey Max & Whiskeys line. I put the words on little hand cut clouds & used pop dots to attach to the page to make them stand out better against the patterned paper. I also used Tim Holtz Aged Mahogany distress ink on the edges.

The single pages are of Austin ... of course. :)

I love these papers from KaiserCraft Tiny Woods Collection! The images match the decor in Austin's bedroom perfectly. I also love the photo! I had just put him down in his crib after rocking & singing him to sleep. The picture was taken with my phone but still turned out pretty good.

I cut out the tree trunk & used pop dots to layer it onto the same image on the paper. I did some stitching & added google eyes to all the critters because I love google eyes! :) The words are for Away in a Manger as that is what I was singing to him.

The last page is of our son, Ryan, on the day he came home from the hospital & then a photo of Austin in the same outfit. I'm soooo sentimental about things like that! :)

This started out as an extra page for a BasicGrey monthly class that I signed up for but I changed it up quite a bit so other than the papers & the buttons there isn't much that resembles the class page. The papers & buttons are from the BasicGrey Paper Cottage line.

Thanks for visiting & hope you like the layouts. Have a great day ... Barb

First Post of 2013!! Jan page kit

It has been a long time since I've been near my computer let alone thought about my blog! :( Despite getting our flu shots, Jeff & I were hit with some sort of respiratory bug right after Christmas that really knocked the wind out of our sails. Still recovering 2 weeks later but feel 100% better.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas & holiday season! We had a wonderful Christmas visiting Ryan, Christina & Austin in Calgary. We were there for over a week & really got to spend lots of quality time with baby Austin. Best Christmas since Ryan was little! :)

I finally made it to my scrap room yesterday & did the monthly page kit from Scrappers' Cove in Invermere. You have to use what is provided in the kit but can also include other things. Love the white mesh in the kit for creating the snow! I ran it through my Xyron & then stuck it to the white cardstock. Very easy to work with! My kit had the QuicKutz peppermint die but I just had to cut some Cricut penguins to compliment Austin's outfit. Took the picture after his visit with Santa. Saw the decorations they had for the North Pole & just had to get pictures of our little penguin sitting there. :)

The Cricut cartridges used for this page are:

Christmas Cheer for those adorable penguins. Cut @ 3 1/2" 4" & 4 1/2". I added google eyes & stickles for their hats.

Winter Frolic for the North Pole sign with the words & it also included the arrow. Cut at 24" as I hid a large part of the cut. I only wanted the sign & arrow so had to make those small things really large for my page.

Mickey Font for the rest of the title. Cut with shadow at 1 1/2".

I used a Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder for the words & letters. Used a snowflake folder for the sign & arrow. Also used some Tim Holtz distress inks - Broken China & Stormy Sky. The 2 penguins together are popped up as well as the arrow & some of the peppermint candies.

This was a fun page to do! :)

Thanks for visiting! Have a wonderful 2013!!

December Challenge for Scrappers' Cove

I have been so busy & have neglected my blog! Also have neglected my scrapbooking! I fell behind in my Christmas card making & also shopping. Finished & mailed all the cards but the shopping .... well, that will get done eventually!

Small town living is always great but at this time of year it is even more special. Love the "Light Up" ceremony we attend in Invermere every year. Radium held their very first ever "Light Up" last night. The village looks so festive. The big horn sheep headed over to see what the fuss was about but decided there were too many people so opted for heading up the hill instead.

I took some time last night to relax & create a page for the December Challenge at Scrapper' Cove, Invermere. I used my newest Lucky 8 punch to create the background. Yes, I got another one! :) I can't believe I didn't use my Cricut on this page!! And, yes, the year is 1988 ... I am that far behind as I don't go in any order when I create pages.

Thanks for visiting today & hope you like the layout.

Austin's First Tooth!

I finished the "First Tooth" page yesterday & had planned to write a post then but ran out of time. Went out for a "Girl's Night Out" at Meet on Higher Ground coffee shop here in Radium Hot Springs. What a fun night! Lots of refreshments, appetizers & sweets. The martini I had was fantastic but then I thought I better just have some wine after that potent drink! :) Venders had set up tables of their wares & it was so nice to see new things from Epicure, Scentsy, Lia Sophia & Bare Hands Spa. Lots of door prizes were handed out. Our table proved to be very lucky with 3 winners. I won a beautiful pair of Lia Sophia earrings! :) Also, we all made wreaths thanks to Shandrea of The Stem in Invermere. They turned out beautifully & since they are real & fresh they smell fantastic as well!

I love the photos in this layout! Such a cutie ... says a totally unbiased gramma! :)

I've had the Cosmo Cricket paper pack (Lil' Man) for years so am definitely using my stash! The pack has 2009 on it!! I didn't do a sketch ahead but I knew in my mind how I wanted this layout to look. It turned out to be a very difficult page to do! I just couldn't decide on the paper from the pack! It was either too busy or too blah! Anyway, I like the final product. :)

Cricut Cartridges:

Baby Steps - "First Tooth" with shadow @ 4" high. I added Glossy Accents to the top layer cut of the tooth. I added paprika Stickles to "First Tooth" as well.

Accent Essentials - straight arrows @ 1.25" high & squiggly arrow @ 1" high

I added some embellishments from my stash (using old stuff again, wow!) as well as a tag from the paper pack.

Thanks for stopping by! Jeff just informed me that 1 month from today is Christmas Eve! :)

Have a wonderful day!

Free Cuts in Cricut Craft Room

When I saw Provo Craft had some free cuts for Christmas cards in the Craft Room I decided to give it a try. I was really pleased at how well these cut but for some reason I had to use multi-cut 2 to get a completely clean cut & that was with a new blade on Bazzill cardstock - blade at 6 & pressure on max.

Both cards are standard size - 4.25" x 5.5". Glitter paper was used behind the Merry & Bright with some Stickles added for the holly. Final touch was some more of the gold glitter paper for the top & bottom trim.

The Happy Holidays has silver holigraph paper behind the cut. Again green & red Stickles & then some silver Peel Off trim.

For free cuts they turned out pretty nice. I think I will be  visiting the Cricut Craft Room a bit more in the future. I already have one of my Expressions designated as the Craft Room machine. :)

Thanks for visiting my blog & have a wonderful day!

Remembrance Day

Things are very quiet here since Nancey & Mike left yesterday. The puppies are missing their cousin Zoe too.

Jeff (hubby) is a retired military man as well as a current volunteer fireman so he always participates in the Remembrance Day Parade & Service. This year Mike, also ex-military, attended with him. For such a small town there is always a huge crowd for Remembrance Day - both in Invermere & Edgewater. Nice to see. It was difficult to get pictures during the parade & service so I took photos when we got back home as well.

This was a very simple & easy layout to put together. The only Cricut Cartridge on this was Go Canada for the title & shadow. The poppies are felt flowers from my stash (they might be Making Memories) The poppy centers are also from my stash (Dollar Store purchase) & they worked great!

Thanks for stopping by. Appreciate the visit. :) Feel free to comment or ask any questions.
